Important: We understand that not everyone can always afford to purchase from companies that align perfectly with their values. Knowledge is the first step. Don't feel pressured if budget constraints limit your choices. Since this site is community-driven, you can contribute by submitting sources to help others make informed decisions. Do what you can within your means.

Contributing is Easy

If you search for a company that isn't in our database, you can add it yourself. While viewing any company profile, you can submit sources demonstrating how they align with various values. As a community-driven platform, your contributions help build a resource that benefits everyone.

Understanding Our Source Requirements

We maintain strict standards for sources to ensure the information on our platform is reliable and verifiable. Here's how our source system works:

Reliable Sources

We prioritize credible, verifiable sources from reputable organizations. First-party sources (e.g., "Company X announces $1 billion charitable donation") are acceptable unless contradicted by more recent information from a reputable source. We consider governments to be reliable sources unless otherwise stated.

What We Accept

We want actual news sources or publications like annual reports, legal documents, or official statements. We support and prioritize small independent journalists who maintain journalistic standards. Academic research, industry reports, and verified company communications are all valuable sources.

What We Don't Accept

Social media posts alone are not acceptable sources — we need links to actual articles or documents. Some news organizations are blacklisted if they:

  • Directly contradict facts or themselves consistently
  • Have a history of being a biased or propaganda-filled source
  • Accept "news" stories in exchange for payment
  • Are plagued with paywalls with no way to validate the story

If you attempt to add a source from a blacklisted domain, you'll receive a message explaining why that source is not allowed.

How Sources Work

Newer sources are prioritized over older information. As fresh sources are added, scores automatically update to reflect the most current information available. This ensures that company alignments always represent their recent actions and positions.

Lawsuits and Claims

We assume major claims or lawsuits against companies (not by a single litigious individual) are made in good faith. Some companies settle lawsuits without admitting fault — we view this as a problematic business practice. Unless there's conflicting information, we trust lawsuits and claims made by individuals and governments as factual. A resolution or settlement does not undo the alleged actions of the company.

Reporting Issues

Coming Soon: If you notice a large error in a source, you'll be able to flag it as problematic and include a new source showing the opposite is true. Our volunteers will then review both sources. This feature is not yet implemented but is planned for the future.
